July looming is here!

July is going to be a great month for looming on the net. Tomorrow the Ravelry loom-a-long group will start my "Leafy Sea Dragon Scarf" pattern, seen in the first photo. This is a fun and free pattern, and you know I love company at the loom-a-long, which will last the month of July.

The loom class at yahoogroups is finishing up the Sea Glass Wrap. The photo here is my class project, about 2/3 of the way done.

One of the really great ideas that came out of the class was to add shell beads, seen in this photo. I've also added small frosted beads that look like sea glass. It is a lot of fun, and has added to the "Sea Glass" theme of the wrap.

Brenda the Loom Lady has some very cute "Can Koozies" for your 4th of July weekend, great for your cans and bottles in a patriotic stripe. While you are visiting, you can also pick up Brenda's brilliant loomchet pattern for Baby Gran Hexagons.

Kelly from KellyKnits will host the loom class for July, and teach us how to loom mitered squares. Kelly is a wonderful designer and teacher, so this should be a great class. Looking forward to looming with you in July.

Yarn Giveaway

Next Monday, June 20, 2011, I am teaching the Sea Glass Wrap pattern in the Yahoogroups Loom Class. I'd love for you to join me, so when you sign up for this free two-week class, I will enter your name in a drawing for your choice of yarn to make the wrap. Just pop on over to the Loom Class Group, and sign up for the class (you may have to join the group - why aren't you a member already?!) I'll draw the name on Monday, and hopefully you will have the yarn by Thursday June 23rd, US Priority Mail. You will have a choice of 2 skeins of Knit Pick's "Aloft" and 1 Skein of Dale of Norway "Ara". As seen in the photo at the top of the post, the colors are Aloft in Pennyroyal ( a pale lavender) with Ara in lavender, sea greens and blues. The colors at the bottom of the photo are Aloft in Jade (a deep blue-green), with Ara in Sea greens and blues. Both sets are gorgeous.
I hope you will sign up for the class, which is really a nice loom-a-long. I like to have company in the loom classes ☺ If you have any trouble signing up, leave me a comment here with your email, (it won't show to the public) and I will sign you up and enter you in the drawing. My younger daughter will preside over the drawing to ensure it is fun and fair. You see her often as my pattern model.
If you need a plain text pattern for your screen reader, please send me a note, and I will send one to you. The pattern as written is a large print pdf file. Good luck and I'll see you all on Monday!

June Looms

June is here, and looms will be busy! The Loom-a-long group at Ravelry has two new patterns to work on. A lacey shawl and a pair of mittens. The Loom Class group at yahoogroups will have a class the second half of the month, and it is my "Sea Glass Wrap" pattern. This is such a fun pattern, a little different, but not too challenging at all. It is made with DK weight mohair yarn, and then some nice, chunky handspun yarn is woven in and caught up in the mohair. I hope you will come and join the class!
The photos here are of my current looms. The first photo shows more work on the V-back shawl pattern, now adding in lace panels, and increasing the size. The second photo is a blue version of the "Pink Pearl Wrap". Both of these have been very popular with the kitties, who like to sit on them as they are loomed.

I forgot to identify the items in the photos I used for "The Right Tools" post last week. The cream lace is from the Daisy Chain Sweater . The grey and blue fabric with eyelets is from Lora's Tea Cozy, and the pink-multi is the V-back shawl pattern I'm working on currently, made with Wool of the Andes Bulky yarn in Garden Party. The last photo is of my CinDwood Universal S loom.
