New class, new patterns, new loom-a-long!

 

March will be a busy month, and I hope you can join me for the third of the CinDwood Zoomin' and Loomin' master classes. The subject this time is Swatching and Blocking. The $10 registration includes the live zoom class on March 13, 2021, a recording of the class, class written materials (a little how-to book for you to have on hand) and my Simple Lace Wrap pattern. I am delighted to announce my newest pattern collection is available. "More Kitty Mitts" is a three pattern collection based on the original "Kitten's Lost Mittens" collection, my most popular patterns. The mitts have three different designs, a smocked mitt, lace mitt, and striped mosaic. You may choose your thumb, the shorter and longer magical kitty thumbs, as well as customize your finger and wrist cuffs.

Last, but certainly not least, the March and April loom-a-long project in the Ravelry Loom-a-long group is my Winter Sky Love pattern from the Little Scarves, Too collection. This sweet scarf features a simple 4 row textured lace repeat (with the lace worked in only one of the four rows) and an optional beaded edge. Everyone is having a great time choosing beads and yarn for this one! I hope you are able to join us. 

And speaking of beading, the February class I taught on Beading for Loom Knitters is now available for purchase. You will get the class recording, class materials, and my Moondance pattern. A little extra bonus pattern is included, too. The class is available for purchase in my etsy shop for $10.00.

July Looming

 I wanted to share some recent projects with you. The first photo is my loomed version of the "B-4" felted bag. This was such fun to make, and was my main project for the Looms in Bloom Challenge in the Ravelry Loom Knitters group. The four "b"s are baubles, bumps, buttons and beads. The bag was made on a 90 peg CinDwood loom in 1/2 inch gauge.

 The second photo is a summer weight Mostly Harmless Scarf. I made this from crochet cotton in a light fingering weight on a 3/8 inch gauge loom. There are pink glass beads added at each point and along the long cast off edge.

Another Looms in Bloom project, in the third photo, a pair of Little Kitten Mitts with the addition of a small ruffle on the wrist. These were made from a cotton-alpaca blend yarn.

This fourth photo shows a prototype for a lace jacket panel pattern I'm working on. This first one is a small, rough version done in kitchen cotton. The pattern will adjust to fit different sized jacket panels. 

There are some great Loom-a-longs happening this month. Continuing from June, the Silky Shawl Theme loom-a-long. Come and see all the beautiful shawls, even if you aren't going to join the loom-a-long. The yarn, patterns and colors are all beautiful. This is a choose you own pattern loom-a-long. I'm working on a Rosebud Lace shawl in a pink alpaca silk yarn. 

The July loom-a-long is a lovely Waffle Stitch baby afghan. The pattern is not difficult, and everyone is enjoying making a little afghan. I hope you'll be able to join a loom-a-long.

A pattern collection of loom knit mitts and mittens

I am very happy to tell you about my new pattern collection, "Kitten's Lost Mittens". This e-book has three patterns, two for fingerless mitts, and one for a full mitten.  The ideas for these mittens came from a long standing "quest" in the Ravelry Loom Knitters group, to find a better thumb for our fingerless gloves. The usual "add on " thumbs had an uncomfortable seam at the base, and stuck out in an unnatural angle. The "flap" style thumb was not open for a true fingerless mitt, and had a funny square shape. Other thumbs lacked a gusset at the base to allow for the natural shape of the hand. Hopefully these patterns have solved many of these issues.

The first pattern, seen in the two photos above, is "Little Kitten Mitts". This is a basic fingerless mitt with a low thumb gusset. This makes the mitts fit comfortably on a variety of hand sizes.  The mitts are made entirely in one piece, on any basic 3/8 inch gauge loom. They adjust in size for adult hands small/medium/large, and may be customized to change the length of the mitt to your preference. Little Kitten Mitts knit up quickly, and make a perfect gift.

The second pattern, seen in the photos above, is "Big Kitty Mitts". These fingerless mitts feature an extended thumb, with an open top. They have the same adjustabilty and other comfort features as Little Kitten Mitts, as well as a one piece construction on any 3/8 inch gauge loom.

The third pattern is "Mittens for Kittens", seen in the photos above. This is a classic style mitten, with a softly rounded top and full thumb. The same gusset is featured, giving the mittens a very comfortable thumb. These mittens are sized for a small/medium/large hand, and the size may be customized to your liking. Any 3/8 inch gauge loom will work with this pattern. 
As with all Invisible Loom e-books, there are two pdf file versions included; a large print 24 point font plain text version, and a paper saver 12 point font plain text version. In addition, the e-book contains a cover, two pages of figures for customizing size and embellishing your mittens, and three pages of photographs. The files are tablet  and e-reader friendly. Print or read your patterns just the way you like.
